On February 14, Hong Kong star Alex Fong shared the news of his marriage with Maple, who previously gained attention as a sexual assault victim of Jeong Myeong-seok, the leading of the infamous cult JMS.
In particular, the actor announced his marriage through his social media, posting, “We got married here. Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!” The post was accompanied by a photo showing the couple from behind, standing by a beach, with the words “MAPLE, MARRY ME?” written on it. The couple had confirmed their relationship in 2023.

Maple’s appearance in Netflix’s famous documentary “In the Name of God: A Holy Betrayal” revealed recordings of her trauma, bringing global attention to her story as a victim of the JMS cult. After the leader, Jeong Myeong-seok’s 17-year prison sentence in January, Maple expressed relief, sharing her hopes for new beginnings and encouraging other victims to stay strong. “I want to tell them, ‘I finished this, and you can too. Stay strong.'”

Professor Kim Do-hyung from Dankook University, who has been supporting Maple, also shared the couple’s good news in an online community for former JMS members, stating, “Maple and her boyfriend have officially tied the knot and registered their marriage.”
Kim added “Maple risked everything to prevent other victims. She helped put Jeong Myeong-seok and his accomplices behind bars, and now, she is living a beautiful life with an amazing husband. This is like a modern-day fairy tale. The documentary heroine, Maple, is now the protagonist of her own story, and as her uncle, I couldn’t be happier.”
